From May 1st to September 30th, you can rent an electric license free boat at Le Mans Marina « Le Port du Mans » and sail on the Sarthe River to discover the historical heritage of the city and the lovely haulover road. You won't need any boating license for this activity which makes it perfect for beginners as well as for frequent visitors. Le Port du Mans also allows you to leave your own boat on one of our pontoon. You will enjoy the different services of the marina as you go wandering around the city.
Why come to Le Mans ?
Le Mans, which is part of the Pays de la Loire region, is world-renowned for its 24 hour car race but the city has so much more to offer. In Le Mans, you will discover the beautiful reminders of the past and a gloriously restored old city. As a matter of fact, it was used as a backdrop for several swashbuckler movies. Here are some of the most notable features of the city:
- the splendid and well known Saint Julien Cathedral
- the well preserved old town « Cité Plantagenêt » where Ruins of a Roman thermal building dating from the 3rd century, have recently been uncovered
- the remnants of a beautiful Gallo-Roman Wall which is still in excellent condition and is surrounded by beautiful gardens
- the Cistercian Epau Abbey, founded by Queen Berengaria that you can visit and which is used for cultural events, notably the Festival de l'Epau
- the 24 hour car race and its Automobile Museum which is open even when there is no race

Opening hours :
- May, June and september : wednesday from 11 am to 6 pm, weekend and bank holidays : from 11 am to 7 pm
- July and August : monday to friday from 11 am to 6 pm , weekend and bank holidays from 11 am to 7 pm
To enjoy a perfect moment on the river, please remember to arrive 15 minutes before the hour of your booking.
Water route :
From the marina you have the choice between different water route : go higher on the river towards the city and discover the historical heritage and the old monuments of Le Mans such as the Cathedral, the Cité Plantagenêt and the Gallo-Roman Wall or go down the river and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet surrounded by nature. There will be three locks that you can cross very easlily according to the duration of your boat trip. A brochure will be given to you explaining everything at the marina.
We recommend two to four hours if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet of La Sarthe's nature and one hour if you are more interested in the city and its beautiful monuments.

Where to go to from the Port du Mans ?
The highest spot of the Sarthe River, Le Mans, is the perfect city to start your trip along the river. From Le Mans, you will discover many cities and charming small towns such as : Spay, Fillé-sur-sarthe, La Suze, Malicorne-sur-sarthe, Parcé-sur-sarthe, Avoise, Solesmes, Sablé-sur-sarthe, Morannes, Chateauneuf, Juvardeil, Moulin d'Ivray, Cheffes-sur-sarthe, Ecouflant and finally Angers. From then you can sail on the Mayenne River or on La Loire.
Access :
It is very easy to go to the Marina as it is very close to the city center. The Marina is accessible by foot, bicycle, bus and tramway as well as by train because the station is only 5 minutes away by foot. Moreover, if you want to come by car, you can leave yours on the free parking spots available for you at the marina or park it safely at the Cénovia park Palais des Congrès parking located 2 minutes away from the marina.
